What is Kiwanis?
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and community ata time. Kiwanis International’s motto is “Serving the children of the world.” Kiwanis was organized in Detroit in 1915. The following year, Kiwanis of Hamilton, Canada was charted making us an international service organization. Now Kiwanis has 8,400 clubs in 96 nations with 600,000 active members. The name Kiwanis came from an American Indian language of the Detroit area.
History of the South Haven Club
After chartering in 1921 as Michigan’s 13th club, we have grown to more than 50 members of men and women. We welcome anyone to attend and join our club. We meet at noon, Mondays, at Lake Michigan College for a lunch, fellowship and programs featuring speakers who represent businesses, non-profits and municipalities throughout the South Haven area.
